Hello, my name is Eric and I created Cooking Chops as a informational blog about food, cooking tips and cooking methods.
I cook weekly meals for myself and my family, cooking can be a chore after working all day. So I do enjoy making meals that are not only easy but you can get two meals out of.
Things like pasta dishes, casseroles and stir fry are always great for two meals during the week.
Otherwise I cherish other day’s where I can take my time cooking up new meals, or perfecting ones I already know.
What I really enjoy about cooking is the creativity involved, the skills you can master and the stress relieving aspects of slicing up vegetables or grilling foods.
Passive cooking is also very rewarding to me. I really enjoy having a soup cooking for hours on the stove or a meat slowly smoking away as you go about your day.
Although I don’t own a meat smoker anymore, I used to have one that finally had to be tossed out. A new smoker is definitely on my wish list and I think 2021 could be the year.
I also enjoy the aspects of buying fresh foods and learning about healthy eating habits. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a good fast food burger or frozen pizza from time to time.
But I also find eating healthy does actually make me feel much better. Also a smoothie or a good salad does really taste awesome.
The world has so much to offer when it comes to food. I hope to share that here in my own way.
My Cooking Inspiration
I get most of my cooking inspiration from famous food bloggers such as Ree Drummond (Pioneer Woman), Bobby Parrish (FlavCity) and shows like The Chef Show on Netflix and Primal Grill by Steven Raichlen.
Docu-series such as Salt Fat Acid Heat and Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation.
I also have learned a lot from family recipes along with cooking lessons passed down from my father and mother and their parents.
